Brownsville, New York is the birthplace of many familiar names in boxing; Riddick Bowe, Mike Tyson, Zab Judah and Daniel Jacobs to name a few. Boxing 360 hopes to add a new name to that list. Travis "The Notorious" Peterkin, a talented amateur fighter who began his professional career just three fights ago is a welcome addition to the Brownsville tradition.
Rangy, slick and powerful, Peterkin brings the heat and knows when to turn it up. Winner of the 2009 DC Golden Gloves and the 2010 NY Golden Gloves, Peterkin has been boxing most of his life. At age 12 he won the Ringside Junior National Title and at one time was ranked number 7 in the country. The kid was born to fight.
The Olympics were part of his dream but it was not to be. Politics, such as his controversial loss to Luis Arias in the 2009 National Golden Gloves in Salt Lake City, dimmed that dream and so Peterkin decided to go professional. Looking to bring "pain to the game" is what he is all about and with three knockouts in three fights, you can rest assured he will do just that.
Being a New York based promoter, Boxing 360 is proud to present a New York-born fighter emerging out of Brownsville of all places. We expect big things and big crowds for a fighter as talented and passionate as Travis "The Notorious" Peterkin.
