Nonito-Donaire

Former multi divisional world champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash”  Donaire (35-3, 23 KOs) of the Philippines returns to action this Saturday. Donaire will take on WBO #1ranked Cesar Juarez (17-3, 13KOs) of Mexico. The matchup is scheduled for 12 rounds with the WBO International super bantamweight title at stake. The bout will take place at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Top Rank will promote the event which will air on TruTV.

This will be Donaire’s second time fighting as a professional in Puerto Rico. He fought there in 2010 ironically against another Mexican fighter. He defeated former world champion Hernan Marquez that night by TKO. Donaire’s opponent Juarez should be entering this bout with a bit of momentum. He defeated former world title challenger Cesar Seda of Puerto Rico and former world champ Juan Carlos Sanchez Jr. of Mexico in back to back fights.

Donaire will need to be on top of his game versus Juarez. This fight to Juarez has the significance of a world title fight.  Donaire will be biggest name he has faced to date. This is also a step up in competition for Donaire since suffering his knockout loss to Nicholas Walters over a year ago. There are a lot of very good fights Donaire could see himself in following a victory over Juarez. The biggest fight for him for sure would be against the winner of the world title unification between unbeaten Scott Quigg and Carl Frampton. However, Donaire must first get by Juarez for any big future fights to happen.
