We saw our current win streak continue with our pick of former world title challenger Andrzej Fonfara (28-3, 16KOs) to defeat former world champion Nathan Cleverly (29-3, 15KOs). The bout took place last Friday  at the UIC Pavillion in Chicago, Illinois.  Fonfara was the local favorite as he resides in Chicago. He is originally from Poland but there is a large polish population in the Chicago area. The bout was another edition of Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions series that aired on Spike TV will air the event.

It was an exciting fight with both men giving as good as they got. The action didn’t stop from the opening bell to the final one. Fonfara started to seize control of the fight after the halfway mark. Cleverly’s face showed the effects of Fonfara’s damaging blows. This did not stop Cleverly from continuing to come forward but his punches simply had no steam on them in the end. Fonfara would go on to win a hard fought unanimous decision and it was another successful boxing360 pick of the week for us.

This week we are going with Showtime’s Sho-Box main event between unbeaten Rob Brant (17-0, 11KOs) of Minnesota and Louis Rose (13-3-1, 5KOs) of Southern California. The bout will take place this Friday at the Celebrity Theater in Phoenix, Arizona. The contest is scheduled for 10 rounds with the vacant WBC Continental Americas middleweight title at state. It’s an excellent fight between two young fighters which fits an ideal Sho-Box matchup.

This is a step up in class for Brant who has been building up is record on low level competition in the Midwest. Rose is a fighter in his prime who has fought far better opposition. This will also be Rose’ third consecutive fight in Arizona. Brant has had all of his fights except for two in his home state of Minnesota. This is a tough fight to call because you never know how an unbeaten fighter will respond in his first major step and especially on television. We are picking Brant as we feel he can get by Rose to remain unbeaten.
