Last week we went with the junior middleweight showdown between former world title challenger Vanes Martirosyan and former world champion Ishe Smith. The bout was on the undercard of the Floyd Mayweather vs Andre Berto main event in Las Vegas this past Saturday night. It turned out to be a more exciting fight than many had anticipated. Martirosyan in the end was victorious by way of majority decision. He scored two knockdowns that helped provide him with winning margins on two of the judges official scorecards. The other Judge saw it even. It was a loss for us as we went with the hometown guy Smith.

We look to get back on the winning track and will go with the middleweight bout between Caleb Truax (25-2-2, 15 KOs) and Fernando Guerrero (27-3, 19 KOs). The matchup is a  scheduled for 10 round main event.  This will be another edition of Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions series (PBC). Site location will be in Winter Park, Florida with Bounce TV to air the event. It’s an equally important fight for both fighters and their styles should make for a good action fan friendly fight.

Truax is coming off a respectable showing in his world title challenge against WBA middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs. Truax would end up being stopped for the first time in his career albeit the 12th and final round. Prior to this he had won 8 fights in a row. Guerrero will come in with a bit of momentum having defeated respectable middleweight Abie Han his last time out.

Truax to us is the fresher fighter. Guerrero has  suffered two bad knockout losses to Peter Quillen and also to David Lemieux. Truax stoppage loss to Jacobs last time out was in the last round of the fight and he wasnt punished for an entire fight. It actually took Jacbos some time to completely take control of the fight. We also feel that Truax is the naturally bigger man and true middleweight. Guerrero has gone back and forth between 154 and 160 depending on the opportunity presented to him. We have decided to go with Truax to defeat Guerrero.
