Former WBA Junior Middleweight champion  Austin “No Doubt”  Trout (29-2, 16KOs)  returns to action this Tuesday. Trout will face former world ranked contender  Joey “Twinkle Fingers” Hernandez (24-3-1, 14 KOs)) in a 10 round Junior middleweight main event. The bout will take place at the famed Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood, California. This will be another installment of powerful boxing advisor Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions series (PBC). This will be the first edition of the series aired on FOX Sports 1.

It was just a few years ago that Trout was unbeaten and considered the top guy at 154 pounds. This was following his upset of former multi-divisional world champion Miguel Cotto. It was a dominating performance by Trout who did so in front of Cotto’s  hometown fans at the Madison Square Garden in New York. Cotto had never lost in the venue.  Shortly afterwards Trout’s new found fame in boxing would be side tracked. He would suffer back to back losses. A  close decision loss to Saul Alvarez and a convincing loss at the hands of Erislandy Lara.

Trout took a much needed break following the Lara loss an returned 9 months later in a tune-up bout. He saw himself dropped twice in that bout but would get up and drop the opponent in route to a unanimous decision win. Trout followed this victory with two more albeit lower level opposition. He did look to step it up against former world champion Anthony Mundine but Mundine pulled out of the fight on short notice sighting an ear condition.

Former Trout foes  Alavrez and Cotto will square off against each other in a mega showdown in November. Trout no doubt would love the opportunity to see either one of them in a rematch if given the chance. In the meantime he must keep active and continue to beat the competition that is put in front of him. If he stays the course he should see himself in one of those big fights once again.
